TODAY November 22, 2017 – Every dollar donated helps enhance our community

The Community Alliance Program, led by Carlos Gutierrez, raised $11K to set forth a series of community assistance programs in California at the first annual Cannabis 4 The Cause Fine Art Fundraiser Gala held December 9, 2017. The unprecedented event included a dinner and auction at San Diego State University’s Montezuma Hall for 120 participants. The Mike Garson Quartet delighted the eager guests with classic jazz compositions. Mike is perhaps best known for his relationship with David Bowie, which began in late 1971. Other members of the Mike Garson Quartet scheduled to appear include drummer Denny Seiwell (Paul McCartney, Wings, Leon Russell), bassist Marlon Martinez (Stewart Copeland, Burt Bacharach) and Sami Shapiro, an 18-year old saxophonist from Los Angeles who won the 2017 National Louis Armstrong Jazz Award. Russ T. Nails entertained the crowd and Pierre Charmasson auctioned off art by Mark Lewis, John Kazanjian, and more. The top auction item, raising $900, was a beautiful piece by Chris Green called Electric Stalactites, one of a two-piece series that is a study of caves and caverns and wanting to explore the depths that one would as they travel through them. “We are truly blessed. The generosity of our guests is absolutely amazing. The support by Prime Harvest, the rest of our sponsors, and the dedication of all our volunteers made this event such a success,” said Chris Breceda, CAP Director. “We feel fortunate to be able to make this first contribution to the Community Alliance Program.”

The day began with Discussions on PTSD and CTE/Brain Damage, which was the first time that the attributes of medical cannabis were presented at San Diego State University in San Diego, California. “This event brought insight to those facing PTSD in understanding that medical cannabis has numerous beneficial medical applications,” added Community Alliance Program Marketing & Advocacy Coordinator Johann Balbuena. The Community Alliance Program recognized the Sponsors of Cannabis 4 The Cause, including Prime Harvest, HiChi, Olive Tree Wellness Center, Artistic Lifestyles, Bartell & Associates, LandMarkers Development Group, Nature Nurse Health, and Buddha’s Best Edibles. ABOUT The Community Alliance Program (CAP) is an association of businesses, groups, and individuals with one common goal: to improve lives by meeting our communities most critical needs, and to invest in cannabinoid research and educational programs.
